The Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation confirmed that the cost of the collapse would cost the Deposit Insurance Fund approximately $13 billion, or as Professor Painter explained, “In other words, good banks and their customers pay to insure bad banks. How much did First Republic’s execs who created this mess have to pay? If we made them pay, First Republic might not have failed.”

Minnesota Law's Racial Justice Law Clinic led by Professor Liliana Zaragoza and the Law Office of Tim Phillips filed a lawsuit on behalf of the Minneapolis branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (Minneapolis NAACP) challenging the Minneapolis Police Department’s use of covert social media accounts to surveil the Minneapolis NAACP and its members.

Professor Alan Rozenshtein was quoted by the Star Tribune about the recent leak of classified U.S. government documents on the popular forum and messaging service Discord. While the full validity of the leaked documents has been disputed, the situation has undeniably been a difficult one to manage for the government.

Dean Garry Jenkins was interviewed by Minnesota Lawyer about the benefits of a liberal arts education, especially for those considering law. After seven years, Dean Jenkins will be departing from his role as dean this summer to become the president of Bates College, a liberal arts college in Maine.

Professor Megan Walsh was quoted by Minnesota Lawyer on the recent ruling of Worth v. Harrington, which concluded that Minnesota's law preventing 18- to 20-year olds from obtaining concealed carry permits is unconstitutional. Professor Walsh explained, “Prior to Bruen, the lower courts applied an interest-balancing test that weighed the government’s interest in promoting public safety against the burden on the Second Amendment right.
