Before retiring in 2020, Bryn Vaaler was a long-time partner in the Corporate Group of Dorsey & Whitney LLP, where he also served as Chief Marketing and Professional Development Officer. From 1989 to 2000, he taught full-time at the University of Mississippi Law School (Contracts, Corporations, Corporate Finance Law and Securities Regulation). He has also taught since 2003 an English-language U.S. Corporations Law course at the University of Montevideo (Uruguay). Bryn has served as a member of the Minnesota Business Corporation Act Revisions Committee (2001-2020), the ABA Corporate Laws Committee (2000-2006) and the Mississippi Secretary of State Business Law Advisory Group (1989-2000). Listed from 2013 to 2020 in Best Lawyers in America, Bryn has written extensively on topics related to corporate statutory law, director fiduciary duties, M&A, securities regulation and legal pedagogy. He received his J.D. magna cum laude from the University of Minnesota Law School, where he served as articles editor on the Minnesota Law Review and was a member of the Order of the Coif. He received his B.A. degree summa cum laude from the University of Minnesota College of Liberal Arts (major: French) where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
