Prof. Megan Walsh Interviewed on WCCO about the Possession of Firearms by Convicted Felons
Prof. Megan Walsh was interviewed on a WCCO news investigation discussing felons possessing firearms to harm. The report said that in the past five years, federal prosecutors have charged more than 450 felon in possession cases. State cases make up the majority of felon in possession charges, with county attorneys charging more than 8,000 in the past five years in Minnesota. So far, roughly 30% of those charged have been convicted. Prof. Walsh, who leads Minnesota Law’s Gun Violence Prevention Clinic said, “Felons in possession of a firearm have previously shown that they’re not making responsible decisions,” and that “public safety,” is what is at stake.
