Prof. Daniel Schwarcz Quoted in MSN about the Difficulty of Obtaining Medical Necessities Through Insurers
Professor Daniel Schwarcz was quoted in MSN about recent research that shows that medical insurance carriers are shifting their broad standards in making coverage determinations to more specific rules of what they will cover, which in turn can make health insurance denial appeals more difficult. “Insurers have essentially changed their contracts so the ultimate rules are the medical policies,” Schwarcz said. “You don't have any grounds to argue that your medical policy is wrong or that it doesn't take into account my medical situation or take into account this new study or it wasn’t updated recently. None of those arguments matter.”
