Professor Moriearty Quoted on Reforms to Minnesota's Juvenile Sentencing Laws
Professor Perry Moriearty was quoted in both national and local publications about recent amendments to Minnesota's juvenile sentencing laws. Under the new laws, which Professor Moriearty helped write, anyone incarcerated as a juvenile will be eligible for release after 15 years except in cases involving multiple victims. The Child Advocacy and Juvenile Justice Clinic has been advocating for these reforms for more than a decade, and Professor Moriearty has testified in support of this legislation more than a dozen times. A new Juvenile Review Board will start reviewing cases next summer.
