Visiting Prof. David Schultz Quoted by KSTP on Affordable Housing and City Center Vacancies in Minneapolis

Visiting Professor David Schultz was quoted by KSTP on the city of Minneapolis' struggle with providing affordable housing, as it grapples with another issue: bringing people back to the city center. Some speculate that converting vacant downtown office space into affordable housing could solve the issue, but Prof. Schulz is not so sure. Prof. Schulz elaborates, “Converting commercial space into residential space is hugely expensive. And generally, what we’ve seen across the country is this type of space goes to middle if not upper middle class and becomes really housing for more affluent people.”
