Prof. Cox Pens Op-Ed Suggesting Rich Cordray as Democratic VP Candidate

Professor Prentiss Cox published an op-ed in the StarTribune suggesting Richard Cordray as the Democratic pick for Vice President. Cordray currently is Director of the Unite States Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB). Cox noted that Cordray would appeal to Sanders voters and has been twice elected to statewide office in Ohio. He lauded Cordray's character and described him as "modest and plain in manner while being wickedly smart." The op-ed mentioned as an example of his strong values and political courage that Cordray was a gay rights advocate in the early 1990s in Ohio when other politicians were not out front on the issue.
