Prof. Wolf Publishes in New England Journal of Medicine on End-of-Life Care

Professor Susan Wolf published an article in the New England Journal of Medicine entitled "Forty Years of Work on End-of-Life Care: From Patients' Rights to Systemic Reform." This article with Nancy Berlinger and Bruce Jennings analyzes the trajectory of efforts to fix death and dying in America since the 1976 Quinlan case. The authors identify three phases of work, focusing first on patients' rights, then clinical realities, and most recently systemic reform of financing and delivery. Concluding that continued work is needed on all three levels, the authors make concrete recommendations for next steps. The article grows out of a book that the authors published with Oxford University Press in 2013.
