Prof. Matthew Bodie Quoted By WSJ on State Efforts to Ease Child Labor Laws  

Professor Matthew Bodie was quoted by the Wall Street Journal in an article on the efforts of some states to ease child labor laws. While proponents say the proposed legislation gives teenagers and parents more options, opponents counter that, if enacted, the bills would remove necessary oversight over child labor, the WSJ reports.

In explaining the impetus for the proposed laws, Professor Bodie observed, "Employers are interested in getting more people available to work for more hours. Some of this is taking existing categories like 14- and 15-year-olds and trying to expand the number of hours they can work.”
