Minnesota Law Performs Well at Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Moot Court Competition

A team of Minnesota Law students performed well at the 2021-22 Giles Sutherland Rich Memorial Moot Court Competition. The team competed in the Northeast Regional on March 11-13, 2022. The team of Minnesota Law students won best brief for the Northeast Region. The team also advanced to the regional quarterfinals for the first time since 2018.

The team was composed of two 3L students, Bridget Carmichael and Jack Graves, who also served as student directors for the I.P. Moot Court course. Both students were selected for the competition team after their strong work in the course last year. Carmichael and Graves will both practice I.P. law at local lawfirms this fall.

The team was coached by local attorneys with significant I.P experience, Christopher Davis, Gabrielle Kiefer, and the Honorable Rachel Hughey, ‘03. Reflecting on this year’s team, Kiefer said “[t]he dedication and work ethic from Jack and Bridget culminated into well-deserved success at the Regional competition. I am confident this is just the beginning of their success in the legal field. Their continued development and improvement over the several months of working with them was exciting to see and made working with them fun and rewarding.”
