Prof. Kritzer Quoted in MinnPost Concerning Frequency of Calls for Jury Duty in Minnesota

Professor Herbert Kritzer was quoted in a MinnPost article concerning the relative infrequency of Minnesotans being called for jury duty compared to citizens of other states. Prof. Kritzer pointed out that much of the difference between Minnesota and states with more frequent calls for jury duty is due to the system of jury duty used in Minnesota, summarizing that many jurisdictions use a ‘one-day, one-jury’ system in which a person is called for a single day, and if not placed on a jury that day, the jury duty is finished until being again. In Minnesota, the length of jury duty is at least one week, and much longer in some counties.
