This course provides an overview of international intellectual property law. Likely topics include (1) a comparison of U.S. and foreign law relating to patents, copyrights, and trademarks; (2) the principal multinational agreements relating to intellectual property, including the Paris Convention, Berne Convention, and the TRIPs Agreement, as well as the implementation of these agreements within the domestic law of the United States and other countries; and (3) other topics such as the protection of indigenous knowledge and the law of judgments, jurisdiction, and choice of law as it relates to intellectual property disputes. One prior or concurrent intellectual property course is helpful, but not required.
