Notice: Limited Access to Mondale Hall & Law Library

During the summer, from May 14th until September 8th, access to Mondale Hall and the Law Library is limited to the students, faculty, and staff of the University of Minnesota Law School (U Card is required). All other patrons needing access to resources held by the Law Library should contact the Law Library Reference Office at [email protected], 612-625-4309, two days before your visit to arrange access. Reference assistance is available during the hours below via email: [email protected], or phone: 612-625-4309 to all Law Library patrons. The Circulation desk can be reached via email: [email protected] or at (612) 625-4300 during the hours below.

Circulation and Reference Hours

• Circulation Desk: Monday - Friday 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., closed weekends. 
  Closed Holidays: May 25th (Memorial Day), June 19th (Juneteenth), July 3rd (University Holiday), September 7th (Labor Day)
   
• Reference Office (May 14 - July 21)
  9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday (see exceptions below). Closed on weekends.
  *Closed 12 p.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays & Thursdays. Closed noon - 1:20 p.m. on Wednesdays
   
• Reference Office (July 22 - Sept. 7)
  9 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. Monday - Friday. Closed weekends.
   

Access to Mondale Hall and the Law Library is limited to University of Minnesota Twin Cities faculty, students, and staff (a U Card is required). Other patrons who need on-site access to Law Library resources must schedule an appointment one day in advance. Contact the Law Library Reference Office at [email protected] or (612-625-4309) to make an appointment.

Please note: appointments are only available Monday - Thursday, 9 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., and Friday, 9 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.

Reference librarians are available to assist all patrons remotely via email or phone during Reference Office hours (see below). The Circulation desk can be reached at (612-625-4300 or [email protected]) during the hours below.

Public Access Policy for Unaffiliated Patrons

24 Hour UCard Access 

University of Minnesota Law School faculty, students, and staff may access Mondale Hall and the Law Library at all times with their UCard.

Winter Intersession Library Access and Hours

• Mondale Hall is closed to the public during Winter Intersession (Dec. 24 - Jan. 18). Access by appointment resumes on Jan. 19. Remote Reference service via email and voicemail is available to the public during Winter Intersession.
   
• U Card access to the Law Library is available for all U of M Twin Cities faculty, students & staff, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 4:30 p.m., EXCEPT when the Law Library is closed or offering remote-only services (see Winter Intersession Hours below).
   
• U of M Law School faculty, students, and staff continue to have 24/7 U Card access to the Law Library at all times during Winter Intersession.
