Kent J. Sieffert is a founding Principal of Shumaker & Sieffert. He is a registered patent attorney specializing in complex electrical and software technologies.

Sieffert’s practice includes all facets of patent prosecution, strategic counseling on patent portfolio management and development, opinions, and presuit investigations. Kent works with a broad spectrum of companies nationally from established fortune 100 companies to dot com startups. His graduate research at the University of Michigan included the design of high-performance RISC-based microprocessors.

Prior to his career as a patent attorney, Sieffert worked as a Senior Design Engineer for Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing (3M) where he was project leader and principal software architect for several medical imaging products. As an engineer, he developed software systems and web-based solutions using Java, XML, C++, Pascal, LISP, CLOS, Fortran, and several assembly languages. In addition, he is an inventor on several software patents
