Immigrant Rights Expert Eunice Cho is Working in Collaboration with the James H. Binger Center as a Senior Legal Advisor

The James H. Binger Center for New Americans is pleased to announce its collaboration this year with immigrant rights expert Eunice Cho as a senior legal advisor.

Cho is a nationally recognized expert and litigator on issues related to immigration detention, and brings over two decades of experience working on behalf of immigrant communities. She currently serves as the associate litigation director at the National Immigrant Justice Center. From 2019 to 2026, she was a senior staff attorney and senior counsel at ACLU's National Prison Project. She has litigated multiple cases to protect the rights of immigrants in detention, including medically vulnerable people during the COVID-19 pandemic, and those held at Alligator Alcatraz and the Guantanamo Naval Base. She is a frequent commentator in national media outlets on topics related to immigration detention and carceral policies affecting immigrant communities.

In her work with the Center this year, Cho will work with the Detainee Rights Clinic by supporting student learning with her advocacy and litigation expertise, conduct community-based assessments, and analyze strategic opportunities to address conditions of confinement in immigration detention facilities. Additionally, she will guide the planning for a national conference on deaths in immigration detention, scheduled for Spring 2027 at the University of Minnesota Law School.
