Prof. Fionnuala Ní Aoláin Interviewed by MicroMega About U.N. Report on Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict
Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin, Regents Professor and Robina Chair in Law, Public Policy, and Society, was interviewed by the Italian news site MicroMega about the significance of Russia and Israel’s inclusion in the U.N.’s annual report on sexual violence in armed conflict. Within the interview, Prof. Ní Aoláin was asked about the significance of the two countries included in the report. She said, “So, what does the inclusion of Israel and Russia in the report mean? This means that, based on the evidence collected and verified through UN mechanisms, there is a sufficiently robust framework to hold these states responsible for incidents of sexual violence related to the armed conflict.”
