Prof. Amy Sweasy Interviewed by KARE News About Prosecutors Obtaining Evidence From Metro Surge Shootings

Professor Amy Sweasy was interviewed by KARE News about the announcement that the Trump administration has turned over evidence long sought by Minnesota investigators in their ongoing probe into the fatal shootings of Renee Good and Alex Pretti. Evidence turned over by federal investigators included previously withheld hard drives containing statements, police body camera video, and other materials in the killings which occurred in January during Operation Metro Surge. Prof. Sweasy said the action taken was a significant and positive development. She said, “I guess we could sort of say better late than never. ... I don’t think that the state could have completed a full investigation without access to this. Part of the reason it’s so important for the federal government and state governments to work together in these investigations is that often, the federal government has resources that the state government doesn’t have. On the other hand, the local law enforcements know the area, they know people involved, they know where to find cameras.” Watch the interview.
