Prof. Linus Chan Participates in Panel Discussion on Immigration Detention Centers

Professor Linus participated in a panel discussion at the annual conference of the Association of Health Care Journalists in Minneapolis. The topic centered on “Reporting on Immigration Detention Centers” with Prof. Chan examining the impact of the Operation Metro Surge enforcement action in Minnesota, which he described as feeling like an occupation, and the rapid transfer of refugees. The enforcement began on Dec. 1 with the detention and transfer of refugees started in January, and it was fast: Some people were arrested in the morning and transferred by afternoon.
