Tribute: Minnesota Law Mourns the Passing of Ward C. Schendel ’77

Ward C. Schendel passed away on April 23 at age 73. He was a resident of Vancouver, Washington. He was a 1974 graduate of Augsburg University and went on to the University of Minnesota Law School where he graduated in 1977. 

Schendel spent much of his career in the insurance industry including The St. Paul Companies/Travelers Insurance where he was an assistant vice president and assistant corporate secretary. Later in his career, he served as an assistant vice president for Aon, and worked for the University of Minnesota as the Associate Program Director for the Conflict of Interest Program in the Office of Institutional Compliance. After retirement, he volunteered for the Clark County (Washington) Mural Society and was a Travel Ambassador for Clark County Public Transit.

Working with fellow attorneys, Schendel was known for his high ethical standards and keen intellect. One colleague said of him, β€œIt was gratifying to work with such a compassionate and understanding professional.” He is survived by his son, Chris.
