Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin, Regents Professor and Robina Chair in Law, Public Policy, and Society, participated in a conference organized by the Belgrade Centre for Security Policy called the Sandbox Conference: Protecting European Civic Space in the Digital Age in Tirana, Albania. She took part in the panel titled “From Rights to Remedies: Legal Protection Against Digital Surveillance and Cyberattacks,” and addressed the complexity and limitations of international law regulation of surveillance, with an eye to strengthening and further deepening the capacity of international law in this area.
