Criminal Defense Clinic Adjunct Professor Shawn Webb Litigates First Case in Minnesota Challenging GeoFence Warrant

Adjunct Professor Shawn Webb, director of the Criminal Defense Clinic, litigated the first case in Minnesota that challenged the use of a geofence warrant. On April 15, the Minnesota Supreme Court, in a split decision, overturned the murder conviction of a Minneapolis man after finding that a police search for Google location data was too broad. But the justices did not ban law enforcement outright from using so-called geofence warrants.
