Prof. Richard Painter Interviewed by NPR News About Resignations by Two House Members
Professor Richard Painter, S. Walter Richey Professor of Corporate Law, was interviewed by NPR News about the resignations of two members of the U.S. House of Representatives. Both Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California and Republican Rep. Tony Gonzalez of Texas announced their resignations from Congress to avoid being expelled due to sexual assault and misconduct allegations. Prof. Painter told NPR’s Morning Edition that the evidence against Swalwell and Gonzales was overwhelming. He said the decision to resign from both members of Congress is a “very good idea” because enduring a full investigation would have been harder.
