Prof. Linus Chan Interviewed by Sahan Journal About Immigrants Still Being Held in Detention Centers

Professor Linus Chan was interviewed by the Sahan Journal concerning new data that says of the approximately 3,400 people detained by federal immigration agents in Minnesota during Operation Metro Surge were transferred to detention centers in Texas, about 530 of those detainees still remain there as of early March. Prof. Chan said, “There should be some recognition here that the harm that we all know that Metro Surge had in our cities is still being perpetuated by the continuing separation and detention of so many of our community members” He added, “It’s left behind families and communities who have to pick up the pieces and continue to do so, and that is a choice that the federal government is making and that the federal government does not need to make.”
