Prof. Fionnuala Ní Aoláin Speaks at U.N. Side Event About Children’s Rights in Armed Conflict Areas
Professor Fionnuala Ní Aoláin, Regents Professor and Robina Chair in Law, Public Policy, and Society, spoke at a side event during the 61st session of the United Nations Human Rights Council. This event brought together U.N. officials, practitioners, academics, and a youth delegate to discuss how to place child-rights expertise at the center of accountability mechanisms in situations of armed conflict. Speakers highlighted the urgent need for stronger political will, child-sensitive investigations, and meaningful inclusion of children’s voices in order to provide justice and accountability.
