Prof. Richard Painter Quoted by Law 360 About Minnesota’s Fight Over Medicaid Funds

Professor Richard Painter, S. Walter Richey Professor of Corporate Law, was quoted by Law 360 about Minnesota’s fight over $243 million in Medicaid funding frozen by the Trump administration which sets up an unusual legal clash that may shape the government’s anti-fraud tactics in other states. Legal experts say that if the federal funding doesn’t come through, it will be difficult for Minnesota to avoid curtailing Medicaid services. Prof. Painter said the funding disruption “will strangle our hospitals.” He said, “Minnesota absolutely needs to fix the fraud problem and accept responsibility for that. … That being said, this is not grounds, in my view, for terminating the payments.”
