Prof. Amy Sweasy Interviewed by Star Tribune About Lack of Federal Cooperation Regarding Investigations
Professor Amy Sweasy was Interviewed for a Minnesota Star Tribune op-ed discussing why the federal government won’t work with state law enforcement to investigate the deaths of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. The commentary said the shutting out of state law enforcement raises serious questions about the investigations’ integrity. Prof. Sweasy, who served for 28 years as a prosecutor in the Hennepin County Attorney’s Office, said the lack of cooperation is unusual and stands in stark contrast to what the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension has come to expect in use-of-force cases involving law enforcement. She said, “We are a pretty sophisticated community when it comes to police use of force incidents, and a lot of that is due to the work of the BCA and all of their transparency.”
