Prof. Linus Chan Interviewed by MPR News About Federal Access to County Jails

Professor Linus Chan, James H. Binger Clinical Professor of Law, was interviewed by MPR News about border czar Tom Homan wanting the federal government to have more access to people in Minnesota county jails. Some counties notify ICE when people who could be deported are about to be released from jail while other times the jails hold these individuals for ICE for up to two days. Some counties don’t do either. Prof. Chan explained why there’s variation in how sheriffs handle immigration detainers in county jails. Listen to the interview.
