Prof. Ana Pottratz Acosta Quoted by Euronews About Federal Agents Violating Fundamental Rights

Professor Ana Pottratz Acosta was interviewed by Euronews about how actions by federal agents in Minneapolis include systematic violations of fundamental rights. She said, “We have seen many violations of constitutional rights, especially the Fourth Amendment. Officers are entering homes without warrants, and that is clearly unconstitutional.” She emphasized that many of these actions rely on administrative orders issued by the federal agencies themselves, which do not have the same legal standing as a court order. She said, “An administrative order does not have the same value as an order signed by a judge, even if the government acts as if it does.” From a legal standpoint, Prof. Pottratz Acosta questions the justification for the use of lethal force. She said “They weren’t protesters. They were legal observers trained by the community to observe and record abuses. Observing and recording the police is a right protected by the First Amendment. There was no legal justification for the use of lethal force against those people.”
