Prof. Megan Walsh Quoted by Rochester Post Bulletin About Increased Access to Firearms
Professor Megan Walsh, director of the Gun Violence Prevention Clinic, was quoted by the Rochester Post Bulletin about the increase in firearm injuries in children and teens resulting in it being the leading cause of death in those age groups, and the overall increase in firearm sales. In 2020, Americans bought a record-setting 21.8 million guns. Prof. Walsh said this has corresponded with more instances of gun violence. She said, “When I first started working on this more than 10 years ago, it was one in 10 people had a personal connection to gun violence. Now it’s one in five.”
