Prof. Ana Pottratz Acosta Interviewed by WCCO News About DHS’ Claim of 50% Fraudulent Visas in Minnesota
Professor Ana Pottratz Acosta, visiting assistant professor and director of the the Immigration & Human Rights Clinic of the James H. Binger Center for New Americans, was interviewed by WCCO News about U.S. Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem’s claim that half of the visas in Minnesota are “fraudulent” amid multiple federal probes into the state. Noem did not provide evidence. Prof. Pottraz Acosta said the 50% figure doesn't sound plausible based on her two decades of experience as an immigration attorney. She said, “I think before giving any credence to those numbers, I really would want to see more specific data from the Department of Homeland Security to substantiate those allegations because they’re very, very serious and really should not be made unless there is data or information to back up those claims.”
