Prof. Vinita Singh Authors Commentary in Lawfare About Jared Kushner’s Connection to Electronic Arts Acquisition

Professor Vinita Singh authored a commentary for Lawfare about the $55 billion acquisition of video game studio Electronic Arts and its connection to the White House. Prof. Singh wrote, “Electronic Arts announced it had reached a deal to be acquired by a consortium of investors — Silver Lake, Affinity Partners, and Public Investment Fund (PIF), Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund — for $55 billion. While the prospective transaction is making headlines for the eye-watering numbers involved — it would be the largest leveraged buyout in history — there’s been remarkably little discussion of the fact that PIF’s role in the deal presents potential dangers to U.S. national security. Unfortunately, the involvement of Affinity Partners — an investment fund founded and managed by Jared Kushner — means these dangers are unlikely to be meaningfully considered or confronted by the federal government.”

In addition, Prof. Singh’s commentary was cited and quoted this week in a letter written by U.S. Senators Richard Blumenthal and Elizabeth Warren to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent. In it, they wrote, “We write with profound concern about the foreign influence and national security risks posed by the potential acquisition of American video game producer Electronic Arts by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake Group, L.L.C., and Jared Kushner’s Affinity Partners.”
