Dear fellow alumni,
I invite you to renew your leadership gift to Minnesota Law today, because your support can change a student’s life, just as it changed mine.
My name is Hannah Oliason ’22. Before moving from Seattle to Minneapolis, I signed a three-year lease for a tiny apartment across from Mondale Hall—sight unseen. It was a leap of faith, but an easy decision to make. I was drawn to Minnesota Law for its nationally recognized Health Law and Bioethics program, but it was the generous scholarship support, made possible by alumni and friends like you, that truly made my dream a reality.
Today, I practice health law at Nilan Johnson Lewis in Minneapolis—a path shaped by my education and the mentorship of two current colleagues who taught at Minnesota Law. Their guidance paved the way for my career, constantly reminding me of the strength and generosity of our alumni network.
Law school presented unexpected challenges. Halfway through my 1L year, COVID-19 disrupted our lives, and the tragic death of George Floyd deeply impacted our community. Amidst reflection and a renewed call for justice, I witnessed something remarkable: how our law school community, supported by the unwavering generosity of its alumni and friends, came together to support one another, adapt, and pursue justice.
I wouldn’t have had the opportunity to attend Minnesota Law or build my career without the support of those who came before me. Their generosity provided an outstanding legal education and a community that stood firm in the face of adversity.
Now, please help carry that spirit forward, ensuring Minnesota Law remains a place where dreams are realized and impactful careers launched.
