Prof. Alan Rozenshtein Quoted by Politico About Potential TikTok-Oracle Deal

Professor Alan Rozenshtein was quoted by Politico about the developing deal to save TikTok that will likely violate U.S. law. A deal under discussion at the White House would keep the app alive by tapping American software giant Oracle to help run TikTok in the U.S. while preserving a role for ByteDance, its Beijing-based parent company. The law passed last year that outlawed the app due to its ByteDance connection is already being violated as the app has been allowed to stay online while a sale is being discussed. And if the deal goes through, Congress has almost no leverage to stop it. Prof. Rozenshtein said, “Congress does not have standing to sue,” adding that a lawmaker can typically only file suit if they’re personally harmed by a violation.
