Prof. Megan Walsh Quoted on FOX 9 About Ghost Gun Use in Crimes
Professor Megan Walsh was quoted in a FOX 9 investigation report about the increase in crimes committed using ghost guns — firearms without serial numbers and often difficult for law enforcement to trace. The suspect accused in the killing of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was arrested carrying a privately made ghost gun. Minnesota has seen an increase in their use with more than 170 state criminal charges were filed in 2023 for possession of a ghost gun, up more than five times the amount from 2021. Prof. Walsh said, “Along with the rise of ghost guns, we’re seeing a rise in the number of ghost guns being used in crime.”
