The Minnesota Law Community Welcomes William McGeveran as its 12th Dean
The University of Minnesota Law School held a reception to welcome William McGeveran as Minnesota Law's 12th dean and William S. Pattee Professor of Law on Monday, November 18 at McNamara Alumni Center.
Family, friends, faculty, staff, alumni, members of the University's Board of Regents, University leadership, members of the bench and bar, and many others gathered together in honor of Dean William McGeveran.
Attendees heard from Executive Vice President and Provost Rachel Croson; Chair of Minnesota Law's Board of Advisors the Honorable Nancy Brasel '96; Professor Nadia Anguiano '17; Professor Francis Shen; Law Council president and vice president Adam George '25 and Liz Tsoukalas '26; Assistant Dean of Students Jay Wong; Assistant Dean of Career Services Claudia Melo; former Minnesota Law dean Garry W. Jenkins, president of Bates College; and Professor Emeritus Robert Stein '61, who all formally welcomed William McGeveran as the next dean of the University of Minnesota Law School. During the remarks, Dean McGeveran was presented with a custom-made bobblehead from the student body, inscribed bookends from the faculty, and a decanal medallion in honor of his service and duty to the University of Minnesota, the Law School, and the state of Minnesota.
Minnesota Law students from the Theatre of the Relatively Talentless (TORT) closed the program with a rendition of Hail, Minnesota.
The Minnesota Law community is thrilled to welcome William McGeveran as our 12th dean and William S. Pattee Professor in Law. His leadership, enthusiasm, and love of Minnesota Law make him the perfect person to lead the Law School toward an even brighter future.
