Alumni News: Stacy Deery Stennes​ '09 Appointed District Court Judge

Governor Tim Walz has appointed Minnesota Law alum Stacy Deery Stennes '09 as a District Court Judge in Minnesota’s Second Judicial District. Stennes will replace the Honorable Shawn M. Bartsh​.

“Stacy Deery Stennes will be an excellent addition to the Second Judicial District,” said Lieutenant Governor Flanagan. “Not only is she a talented civil litigator, but she goes above and beyond to give back to the legal community and to help the next generation of lawyers and law students succeed.”

​Before this appointment, Stennes was a partner at Conlin Law Firm, LLC, where she represented clients who had been injured due to negligence, medical malpractice, and defective products. Her community involvement includes serving on the Minnesota State Bar Association Assembly, coaching high school mock trials, mentoring law students and new lawyers, and volunteering with Children’s Law Center and Open Arms Minnesota. Stennes’s community involvement has included serving as the former president of the Minnesota Association for Justice and a founding member of their Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity committee. She is also a member of the American Board of Trial Advocates. She earned her B.A. from the College of St. Benedict & St. John’s University and her J.D. from the University of Minnesota Law School.
