
Visiting Professor Contreras to Speak at George Washington University Event Commemorating 35 Years Since Moore v. UC Regents (Cal. 1990)
On Friday, February 20, Visiting Professor Jorge Contreras will speak at the symposium “Property and Health Law 35 Years After Moore v. UC Regents” hosted by George Washington University Law School. The event commemorates the 35th anniversary of the Moore case, which has shaped the law surrounding the ownership of human tissue, cell lines and DNA. Professor Contreras has written extensively on these and related topics, including Genetic Property, 105 Geo. L.J. 1 (2016), The False Promise of Health Data Ownership, 94 N.Y.U. L. Rev. 624 (2019) and his award-winning book The Genome Defense: Inside the Epic Legal Battle to Determine Who Owns Your DNA (2021).
