UMN Immigration Experts
The Binger Center is uniquely positioned within an academic institution and works to leverage our access to university resources to enhance our work to protect and advance the rights of noncitizens. Our Education and Outreach team cultivates inter-departmental university relationships to make academic knowledge research a more accessible and practical resource and legal advocacy tool.
The Binger Center regularly partners with the University of Minnesota’s Immigration History Research Center, the Law School’s Human Rights Center, the Humphrey School of Public Affairs, Community-University Health Care Center, among others, to expand research, community engagement and interdisciplinary events.
The Binger Center also partners with student groups to provide opportunities to learn and engage with immigration law and research on campus. Student group collaborations include providing training and hosting student volunteers with the Asylum Law Project, and co-hosting networking events with the American Immigration Lawyers Association Student Affiliate. The Binger Center also supports emerging immigration scholars by supporting law students authoring notes for one of the Minnesota Law Journals.
