A Disaster Waiting to Happen? The Impact of Climate Change on the Insurance Industry

The intersection of insurance and climate change is a growing concern, with insurers facing increasing financial risks due to extreme weather events and rising premiums. Reinsurers are also reacting to climate-related risks by raising rates, limiting coverage, and even reducing exposure in certain areas. As a result, the insurance industry is facing increasing regulatory scrutiny and legal challenges related to climate change, as governments and regulators seek to address the financial risks and impacts of climate change. This CLE will look at current, relevant litigation, how the insurance industry is responding to climate change and an increase in natural disasters, disclosure guidelines, claim issues in the wake of natural disasters, and touch on what to expect in the near future.
