Moot Court Competition Team: ABA Moot Court Competition Team – 7048

Fall 2022
* Multi-semester course

One of, if not the largest, moot court competitions in the country. The ABA competition is unique for three reasons. One, there is a longer time period between the problem release and brief due date compared to other competitions. This provides competitors an opportunity to dedicate more time to writing and revising their brief. Two, unlike most competitions, coaches are allowed to meet with team members during the brief-writing process. Three, there is a considerable gap between the brief submission deadline and oral arguments. This provides an opportunity for more varied practices -- including practices with guest judges and “workshop” practices when competitors focus on substantive issues in a collaborative setting.

At the tournament, students argue at a regional round and each team is guaranteed at least three oral arguments. Advancing teams move on to the national finals in Chicago in April.
