Academic Writing for Law Journals

This seminar is primarily for students who would like to work in a collaborative setting on a student note. Students should expect to spend class time discussing the practice of academic research and writing, as well as workshopping their own or their classmates' drafts. The seminar may be taught in a mix of plenary sessions and one-on-one meetings. 

Registration priority will be given to students who meet the prerequisite/corequisite and plan to submit their work product to a student-edited UMN law journal for possible publication.  Note: This class is not a prerequisite to submitting a note for publication.  

If seats remain available closer to the start of the semester, interested students without the prerequisite/corequisite who would like to work on other forms of academic writing can contact the instructor for approval to enroll.
