International Law – 6071

Fall 2019

The course is an introduction to public international law.  It will examine the sources and history of the law of nations, and how international law is formed, interpreted and enforced.  It will also provide a brief introduction to the law of international organizations (specifically the United Nations), concepts of jurisdiction and conflicts of jurisdiction among nation states, international protection of human rights, the law of armed conflict, international criminal law, international environmental law, the law of the sea and the control of the use of force (including peacekeeping and related topics).
